Two kinds of Fear

1. Immediate Danger

2. Imagined Danger

Two things to remember when fear keeps you up at night

1. God is more powerful than any enemy we will ever face

Elisha’s servant

“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

You and me

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

2. God is with us

God’s promise to Moses

And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.”
Exodus 3:12

God’s promise to Gideon

When the Israelites cried out to the Lord because of Midian, he sent them a prophet, who said, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. I rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians. And I delivered you from the hand of all your oppressors; I drove them out before you and gave you their land.

Two things to do. When fear keeps you up at night

1. Filter what goes into our minds

I will refuse to look at anything vile or vulgar

Psalm 101:3

2. Replace your fearful thoughts with three things


1. Prayer

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6

2. Scripture

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
Philippians 4:8

3. Action

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:9
