Philippians 3:1-11 NLT [1] Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith. [2] Watch out for those dogs, those people who do evil, those mutilators who say you must be circumcised to be saved. [3] For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort, [4] though I could have confidence in my own effort if anyone could. Indeed, if others have reason for confidence in their own efforts, I have even more! [5] I was circumcised when I was eight days old. I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin—a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. [6] I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault. [7] I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. [8] Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ [9] and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. [10] I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, [11] so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!
Our salvation is God’s work through the son by the Holy Spirit
The Danger
The greatest Danger in our spiritual lives might not be our sin but our own righteousness
Romans 10:2-3 NLT [2] I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal. [3] For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law.
Christ’s righteousness saves us our righteousness blinds us to the fact that we need a savior
Luke 15:18 NLT [18] I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, [28] “The older brother was angry and wouldn’t go in. His father came out and begged him, [29] but he replied, ‘All these years I’ve slaved for you and never once refused to do a single thing you told me to. And in all that time you never gave me even one young goat for a feast with my friends. [30] Yet when this son of yours comes back after squandering your money on prostitutes, you celebrate by killing the fattened calf!’ [31] “His father said to him, ‘Look, dear son, you have always stayed by me, and everything I have is yours. [32] We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!’”
Philippians 1:9-11 NLT [9] I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. [10] For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. [11] May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.
Philippians 3:10 NLT [10] I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,
I love being around people, but I would consider myself an ambivert not an introvert not an extrovert but a little of both it depends on who I’m with. Also love creating a podcast and getting to talk to an audience. My dream is to take it a little bit more seriously and maybe take it on the road locally for now. I love being out and about and I love my alone time.
I would be lying if I didn’t mention the Jersey Boys album I like the movie version better than the Broadway album even though my uncle introduced me to Jersey Boys and John Lloyd Young by suggesting that I check out the Broadway album. I also am in love with tapestry by Carole King. That came out when my mom was a freshman in high school and when she introduced it to me when I was little I didn’t get it because back then I wasn’t into what I termed old music but now I love that album and I grew to love it even more when I saw beautiful the musical which is another of my favorite albums that soundtrack is gorgeous.
Which topics would you like to be more informed about?
I’m simply interested in growing and seeing where God takes me. This week I start but I will study, and I’m starting with the new group rather than the previous group that I have been with for the last three semesters of Bible study. I am also going to start what I call boundless babe graduate school. The Boundless Babe Society has decided to let the graduates of the program back into the program and they are calling it BBs Graduate Connect. I have also decided to join a support group twice a month called Push Rim. It is a support group for people with disabilities to come together chat and share solutions to difficulties I’ve been a little sad in life lately but I’m hoping that God will use this to make me feel better and help me to grow.
My life without music would be absolutely devastating and horrible. I don’t know who I would be if I couldn’t sing or go to a concert or listen to the radio it has been part of my life ever since I was born
The one constant in our Christmas celebration is going to church although the times have changed for that too we used to have only one service at 6:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve but now we have two services it will usually one at 4:00 and one at 6:00 and we could choose which one we wanted to go to. After church on Christmas Eve, we traditionally head to my grandmother’s house after a quick stop at our house to pick up the presents that we bought for our family then we would head to my mom’s mom’s house and stay there and visit with family until about 11:30 or midnight. Then on Christmas Day we would go to my other grandma’s house my dad’s mom’s house and hang out with family there this is when that side of the family was a lot closer. Now that most of our family has grown up and had their kids we have kind of spread apart and have moved on to doing our own thing. Church is still a constant on Christmas Eve although our church celebrates Christmas through music a few weeks before Christmas because many of our choir members are actually out of town before Christmas and for Christmas. So soon I will start choir rehearsals and get ready for the Christmas season at Eagle Rock Baptist Church and we will see what we do for Christmas because there have been changes in our family as well
