God with us: in the future

All right then, the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look! The Virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and you will call him Emmanuel!

Isaiah 7:14

1. I can face the future with courage

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord , the Lord said to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, “Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the people of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

2. I can face the future with hope

For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord they are plans for good and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope

Jeremiah 29 :11

3. I can face the future with anticipation

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come get you so that you will be with me where I am.

John 14:1-3

Memory Verse

For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.

Philippians I:21

When Josh Groban waved at me

For my 25th birthday back in 2007 I went to Vegas to see Josh Groban. He was on Tour with his album called Awake it was one of the best Birthdays When I was enjoying the show, an usher came up to me and said

Excuse me, are you one of those girls?

Excited and flustered I said

YES!

He continued to tell me,

Josh is going back to his dressing room, then he’s going to come back through the lobby to make his enterace for his next song, would you like to be one of the people to wave at him?

I said

Yes! I would love that

My mom and I started to race to the spot where we were asked to go.

I was able to be in front of the crowd so I could see, and five minutes later, Josh walks through the door. He waved at the crowed then waved directly at me.

I asked my mom if she got a picture and she said

Oh shoot he waved already

She had missed it!

We went back and watched the rest of the show; then after the show we met up with my family. I had found out the Josh and his band were having a party at studio 54 inside the MGM Grand and I wanted to go see who I could see, of course I hoped I could see Josh.

While waiting I had the pleasure of meeting some of the band members from Josh’s opening act. Then I had the pleasure of meeting tarik Akonie he is Josh’s music director and lead guitarist. It was an experience I will never forget!

Where is God when my world is is falling apart?

God is where he Always is, Doing what he always does.

God is Empowering us to live in our new world. He does this by:

1. Giving us his peace

That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said.

John 20:19

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

John

14:27

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

2. By reminding us of his provision

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.

Luke 5:4‭-‬7 NLT

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19 NLT

There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.

Acts 4:34-35

3. By indwelling us with his Sprit

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts of the Apostles 1:8

Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay. God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.

1 Peter 4:8‭-‬10

I didn’t expect to be sad

I didn’t expect that I would feel so bummed out today. On a normal day like today. I would be changed into one of my favorite night out outfits, have my makeup already done, and be ready to do my hair. It’s only been two months since I last saw my loved ones I see at vitello’s, but because of whatthe world is going through it hurts just a little bit more. I’m.lopking forward to the day when I can safely hang out at Vitello’s, Sterling’s and ERBC with the people that I love and want to say creativity with

Esther Project post

I decided to wear a dress today. I have had this dress forever . This used to be a dress that I want very interested in styling, but then again I wasn’t interested in styling any of my clothes.
I would typically wear this dress as something to throw on the day of going to a concert before I would put on the outfit I was going to wear to that show. I’ve only have worn this dress a few times with intention of making myself look nice in it. I think if I was actually going to church tonight not would be perfect for the weather we are having.

Answering this week’s life group ice breaker questions

What is something that I am mourning as a result of the pandemic?

I know that the church is not a building, but I miss going to church. No miss having to get up early in the morning to get ready. I miss my dad making me coffee at 6:30! In the morning, because I need my coffee with my cereal. I miss my band brothers and my choir brothers and sisters.

I also miss everyone I would see at my favorite venues, Sterling’s upstairs at the Federal and Feinstein’s at Vitello’s and lastly but not least I miss going to the Theatre. I was supposed to see Hamilton, A Chorus Line and Next to Normal this year.

What are the three things that I am planning to do when I am able to go out again?

I’m going to get my hair cut and colored.

I’m going to buy tickets to shows and I’m going to be able to sing in church again.

Where is God: in the pandemic

Where is God in the Pandemic?

He is where he always is, doing what he always does. God is demonstrating his Devine attributes and authority through:

1. His general revelation and common Grace.

God’s glory is on tour in the skies, God-craft on exhibit across the horizon. Madame Day holds classes every morning, Professor Night lectures each evening. Their words aren’t heard, their voices aren’t recorded, But their silence fills the earth: unspoken truth is spoken everywhere. God makes a huge dome for the sun—a superdome! The morning sun’s a new husband leaping from his honeymoon bed, The daybreaking sun an athlete racing to the tape.

Psalm 19:1‭-‬4

“You’re familiar with the old written law, ‘Love your friend,’ and its unwritten companion, ‘Hate your enemy.’ I’m challenging that. I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty. If all you do is love the lovable, do you expect a bonus? Anybody can do that. If you simply say hello to those who greet you, do you expect a medal? Any run-of-the-mill sinner does that.

Matthew 5:43‭-‬47

“In the generations before us, God let all the different nations go their own way. But even then he didn’t leave them without a clue, for he made a good creation, poured down rain and gave bumper crops. When your bellies were full and your hearts happy, there was evidence of good beyond your doing.” Talking fast and hard like this, they prevented them from carrying out the sacrifice that would have honored them as gods—but just barely.

Acts 14:16‭-‬18

2. Through the lives of individuals

Don’t overlook the obvious here, friends. With God, one day is as good as a thousand years, a thousand years as a day. God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.

2 Peter 3:8‭-‬9

So, my very dear friends, don’t get thrown off course. Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle. He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures.

James 1:16‭-‬18

3. The ministry of his church

Anyone who sets himself up as “religious” by talking a good game is self-deceived. This kind of religion is hot air and only hot air. Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight, and guard against corruption from the godless world.

James 1:26‭-‬27

Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, “Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?

James 2:14‭-‬17

This is how we’ve come to understand and experience love: Christ sacrificed his life for us. This is why we ought to live sacrificially for our fellow believers, and not just be out for ourselves. If you see some brother or sister in need and have the means to do something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do nothing, what happens to God’s love? It disappears. And you made it disappear.

1 John 3:16‭-‬17
