Do you remember when I said that I had an unspoken prayer request back in February? I wrote that post on the day I had an interview with the executive director of @frankdlantermanrc. She came to my home to speak to me about possibly joining the board of directors. During our conversation I accepted the role unofficially and filled out an application for the position. Yesterday I received my acceptance letter in the mail officially welcoming me to the board!
My two year appointment begins on July 24th.. One year ago I was at Rollettes Experience and I got a voicemail saying that my service coordinator recommended me for a self advocacy group and my life has never been the same since!
Living with a disability is a rollercoaster of emotions and self acceptance is not a linear journey. Community is the thing that makes the journey easier.
I hope that through my experience I can represent my community well. I can truly say that what I thought made me weird has now become my strength. Thank you God for this opportunity
